Porta Dam Isolation
At MMP Marine & Inspection, we regularly use porta dams across lakes, rivers, and culverts to isolate specific work areas and allow for safe, dry access during essential maintenance and repair activities. These temporary dams are a crucial solution when repairs require dry conditions in otherwise submerged environments especially where confined space or diving operations are involved.
In this particular project, our team installed a porta dam across a river section to enable safe silt removal and asset inspection. Once the river section was successfully drained, our operatives accessed the work zone to begin clearance and preparatory works. As with many of our projects, this required strict coordination with multiple asset owners.
An important aspect of this project involved the monitoring of local bat populations. Working closely with a licensed bat ecologist, we ensured that nesting sites were identified and protected throughout the operation. Environmental compliance is a key part of our process, and we take pride in supporting biodiversity while carrying out essential infrastructure work.
By combining innovative water control methods with expert environmental collaboration, we continue to deliver high-quality results that meet both technical and ecological standards.
