Commercial Diving Services

HSE-Registered Commercial Diving Contractor

MMP Marine & Inspection provides commercial diving for water companies, utilities and civil engineering contractors across the UK. We are an HSE-registered diving contractor and full members of the Association of Diving Contractors (ADC), so every dive is planned and carried out to industry best practice.

Our commercial diving teams work in fresh and contaminated water, including sewage, on reservoirs, rivers, docks, harbours and the inlet and outlet structures of power stations. Diving is often the quickest and safest way to inspect, repair or install equipment underwater without draining an asset or taking it out of service for long.

Our commercial diving services include:

  • Underwater inspection and detailed reporting with 3D modelling

  • Non-destructive testing (NDT)

  • Underwater repairs, concreting and welding

  • Thermic lance cutting and debris removal

  • Valve removal and replacement

  • Supply and installation of limpet dams and cofferdams

  • Primary and secondary isolation plate design, fabrication and installation

  • Sheet piling

  • Dock, river and harbour wall repairs

  • Scour protection installation

  • Lock gate removal, replacement and repair

Underwater Construction and In-House Fabrication

Our in-house fabrication department designs and builds bespoke components, including isolation plates, flange plates, pipe pullers, mesh flooring and hand railing. Because design, fabrication and installation sit with one team, we can support complex construction and maintenance work both underground and underwater.

Our marine construction work includes:

  • Commercial diving in sewage and contaminated water

  • Work at nuclear and electric power stations, including inlet and outlet structures

  • Rock armouring and scour protection

  • Seabed clearance, debris removal and levelling

  • Custom in-house design and fabrication

  • Reservoir modification, repair and maintenance

Safety Boat and Pontoon Hire

We work on reservoirs, rivers and coastal outfalls every day, and our safety boat operators bring that experience to every job on the water.

We provide short and long-term safety boat hire. Each boat comes with a skilled operator, VHF radio, fuel and a boat trailer.

We also hire and assemble modular pontoons, supplied with mooring ropes, anchors, handrails, cleats and ladders.

Reservoir Sonar Mapping and Dive Surveys

We offer several underwater survey methods, including reservoir sonar bed mapping, contouring, down scan sonar mapping and commercial dive surveys.

These surveys locate outfalls and inlets, raised pipework, submerged culverts, debris and silt mounds. Our sonar mapping works in live conditions with real-time data, and the images can be overlaid on digital mapping software to give accurate latitude and longitude. That makes it ideal for finding pipework before dive surveys, repairs or marker buoy placement.

Commercial Diving FAQs

What is commercial diving?

Commercial diving is diving carried out as paid work, such as inspecting, repairing or installing equipment underwater. In the UK it is regulated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) under the Diving at Work Regulations 1997.

Can your divers work in contaminated water?

Yes. Our teams dive in contaminated water, including sewage, as well as fresh water.

Where do you provide commercial diving services?

Across the UK. We are based in Epping, Essex, and work on reservoirs, rivers, docks and treatment works nationwide.

Do you also offer ROV inspection?

Yes. Where diving isn’t the safest option, our ROV inspection and pipeline inspection service surveys pipes and tunnels remotely.

Testimonial

“Working with the team from MMP was a pleasure from start to finish. Very professional and knowledgeable throughout the process from planning to execution. And standard of safety and workmanship on the day of install showed they were the right people for the job. Look forward to future works when MMPs expertise is needed again”
